What to carry on a Rwanda Gorilla Safari

There are very many things you have to pack especially when planning a gorilla tracking safari to Rwanda

  • First, Wear comfortable mountaineering shoes because mountain gorillas may involve passing through steep muddy slopes.
  • 1 – 2 long sleeved shirts preferably quick drying
  • Put on ear plugs for those who feel uncomfortable with the jungle sounds not only gorillas that are going to be met but other forest dwellers such as black and white colobus monkey, baboons various species of birds are met in the forest.
  • Medication, malaria regiment and insect repellant
  • Carry a packed lunch and enough drinking water since meeting these giant apes is unpredictable it may take half or full day so it’s very better to move with your packed lunch and bottled water.
  • Carry rain gear, sunscreen lotion, a hat with a brim for sun protection (as the weather is unpredictable) and insect repellent.
  • Bring a photo of film camera. Using flashlight is not permitted so we recommend using films of 400-   800 ASA. Camera and extra lenses
  • 1 – 2 long sleeved shirts – preferably quick drying
  • 2 – 3 short sleeved shirts – preferably moisture wicking
  • Gorilla trek walking stick is also needed as you meet difficult terrain tracking in Rwanda. You may purchase them at the park headquarters and some lodges hire them.
