Tour Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Akagera National Park
Upon your arrival at Kigali international Airport, you will be met and greeted by our tour company guide as well as driver, gets you briefed about the safari and then after, he will transfer you to the western part of Rwanda to Akagera national park the only protected area in Rwanda that houses a wide variety of animal species. Check in into your room and have lunch, in the evening you will embark on a game drive and have a chance to watch some animals before they get back to their habitants. Day 2: Game drive and Canoeing
Wake up in the morning for a cup of tea/ coffee, and then after rush to the savannah area of the park to catch up with early species from their hideouts, you many came across lions, zebra, buffaloes, leopard giraffe among others. After this wonderful moment a slow drive will be made back to the lodge for a heavy breakfast, relaxation and lunch. Later on after lunch go for a canoe ride on Lake Ihema. Day 3: Transfer to Kinigi
After having breakfast, you will be transferred to the Northwestern part of Rwanda up to volcanoes national park the only protected area in Rwanda where gorilla tracking can be done safely. This truly is a ounce in a lifetime experience that is impossible to put into word. You will pass through the beautiful terraced hillsides that show much of Rwanda’s landscape, gradually climbing to the base of the awesome volcanoes. You will enjoy lunch en route. Day 4, Gorilla tracking in volcanoes national park
After breakfast, you will be escorted by a ranger guide to the park headquarters at 08:00hours for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while with gorillas and also get a signed to the group booked for. After the briefing from the authorities of the park, set off into the rain tropical forest to begin the activity, Gorilla tracking is regarded as the most interesting activity on earth. Gorilla tracking time is unpredictable as it may take between 3-8 hours as it depends on where they spent the last night. And it may involve passing through muddy and thick forest, so it is advisable to move with tracking gears like packed lunch and bottled water, long khaki or jean trousers, non flash cameras, rain gear, strong boots among others. Ounce gorillas are found you will forget all the hardness you’ve gone through and start enjoying watching them as they are doing their daily activities such as feeding playing, making beds among others and you strictly allowed staying with gorillas for only one hour while observing then, taking photos. After this wonderful moment come back to the lodge or if you have the evening free go for a cultural walk to visit the neighboring people Batwa the pygmy family that live near the park, they will entertain you through their cultural dance, introduce to you their faming methods and explain to you how they have managed to survive among others. Day 5: Golden Monkey trekking
Have breakfast at the Lodge and then after you will be lead by a ranger guide to the park headquarters for a short briefing a bout the dos and don’ts while with these species. After proceed to the thick forest to begin the activity. These primates are splendid to watch and they are regarded endangered and one of the most beautiful primates on earth. You either follow Kabatwa at the base of Sabyinyo or Musanga at the base of Karisimbi. This takes a few hours, you will return to the lodge for lunch. After this you will drive to Gisenyi or visit Ross Carr’s orphanage and Lake Kivu and trek to Dian Fossey’s grave a prominent researcher who studied the behaviors of these giant gorillas for a period of about 20 years. Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest
Wake up very Early in the morning for breakfast at your lodge, and then after you will embark on your journey to the southwestern part of Rwanda up to Nyungwe Forest National Park the only protected area in Rwanda that houses over 13 species of primates the major one is the chimpanzees the closest relative of man among others primate species. On your way to the park, you will visit the old palace in Nyanza, or visit the genocide memorial of Murambi where most of the people where buried and also it has good information about how this war started. Have lunch en route and then continue with your journey through the green hills of tea and the vast. Arrive at the park in the late evening for dinner and an overnight at Luxury: Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Midrange: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, Budget: Gisakura Guest House.

Day 7, Chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe forest
On this day after breakfast, you will be lead by the guide to the forest to search for the man’s closest relative the chimps. They are fabulous fan to watch as their playing in fruitful trees. Go with bottled water and packed lunch because chimpanzee tracking is unpredictable it may take between 1-6 hours as it depends on their movement. And ounce found you strictly allowed spending only one hour with them. After the activity came back to the lodge for leisure. If you have the evening free go for canopy walk here visitors have a grater chance of viewing butterflies, different species of birds, and different species of primates that reside in the upper levels of the forest. Retire to the lode for dinner and an overnight at Luxury: Nyungwe Forest Lodge/Midrange: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, Budget: Gisakura Guest House.

Day 8: Forest Walk
Wake up for a morning breakfast, after go for the forest walk to search for the large groups of Colobus monkeys and birds including the Rwenzori turaco. You will have lunch in the forest. Return late afternoon for evening tea, picnic relaxing and sighting at the lodge/hostel. Dinner and overnight stay at Nyungwe Forest Lodge Midrange: Nyungwe Top View Hill Hotel, Budget: Gisakura Guest House.

Day 9: Kigali City Tour and Return Home
Wake up leisurely for a heavy breakfast, depending on your travel time depart for Kigali where you will do a City tour in case you missed the first one, visit places like the local market, a pottery project, handicraft shops, the Franco-Rwandan cultural centre, the Museum and the Kigali genocide memorial. Have lunch enroute and then Transfer to the airport to meet your departure flight back home
