Also termed as a land of thousand hills, the magnificent atmosphere of this East African country can never be compromised. Actually, it is hard to tell whether it’s not the best tourism destination in Africa especially by the first-time visitors. Today as you read this, the country is one of the most visited as it receives on average 150 tourists. This normally happens during the peak seasons.

Though one can enjoy numerous interesting tourism activities on a Rwanda safari, there are some which are more hilarious when compared to others. A drive to the north to the areas of Volcanoes national park is remarkable experience. This park is well known for harboring the rare mountain gorillas and tracking these primates is the most popular venture. The park is a home to over 300 gorillas making it the second most populated park by the primates in the world. This is the main reason why most of the safaris in Rwanda are done in this area.80% of the visitors in the country come specifically to track the primates.

However, there other interesting activities one can enjoy while in Volcanoes National park like the golden monkey trekking. Golden monkeys are one of the rare primates in the world with very few places where they can be seen. Rwanda is blessed to have them and they have greatly contributed to attracting people from other countries. Tracking them comes as an additional package to one’s itinerary say after tracking the gorillas or after a nature walk. It is a common practice of encountering a golden monkey in the thick rainforests of Volcanoes as one trek the gorillas being the fact that these two primates share the forest as their home.

Another thrilling activity one can participate in is Dian Fossey grave hike. The late renowned primatologist was killed in the forests of volcanoes by poachers as she was trying to study and save the mountain gorillas and it was decided that her body should be buried in the park. From that time, her grave which is next to other graves of mountain gorillas has become a tourist attraction. Its strategically located on a fairly hilly platform making it suitable for hiking. Gorilla trackers find it more adventurous to hike to the grave after trekking the primates.

Having talked about those thrilling tourism activities, there is no doubt that Volcanoes national Park id the heart of Rwanda when it comes to tourism.
